Mission
The
mission of the Dallas Chinese Community Center is to promote Chinese
culture and to foster diversity through educational, cultural and
recreational programs and activities that enrich the lives of immigrants and
broad American society. About the Center
The
DCCC is conveniently located in the Richardson "China Town"- a
shopping center on Greenville Avenue between Beltline Road and Arapaho Road,
just east of Central Expressway. The
Center includes a meeting facility with a capacity of 200 people, a library, a
conference room, and a computer laboratory.
The facilities have been used by a variety of organizations for periodic
meetings as well as a venue for instructional courses in computer, English,
arts, dance, martial arts, and table tennis.
Also available to the general public is a library of Chinese literature,
magazines and newspapers. The
facilities are available to the general public for a nominal fee.
The Center also has an array of Chinese costumes available for rental.
Interested parties are encouraged to contact the Center. DCCC
Programs and Activities DCCC
serves the Asian American and non-Asian communities in the DFW area through a
variety of events and activities. Following is a selected list of programs
sponsored or supported by the Center: Library Thousands
of Chinese books, magazines, and newspapers are available for checking out or
on-site reading for a small user fee and deposit. This is the only public
library in the DFW area devoted to providing extensive Chinese reading
materials. Cultural
and Recreational DCCC
sponsors and supports various cultural events including Chinese New Year
celebration, Asian Heritage month festival, an annual award banquet and fashion
show, demonstrations and exhibits of arts, paintings, and calligraphy, annual
karaoke competition, as well as dance and musical performances. The Center also
hosts table tennis tournament, chess contest, and mah-jong tournament and
provides rental services for costumes. Educational DCCC
offers a number of classes for adults and children including computer, English,
Chinese, mathematics, painting, martial arts, tai-chi, ballroom and folk dances,
and table tennis. In addition, it co-sponsors annual youth leadership training
and summer camps with local Chinese schools and community groups. Community The
Center sponsors special seminars and presentations by experts in technology,
eastern and western cultures, music and arts, as well as current events. DCCC
also host visits by distinguished guests such as Labor Secretary Elaine Chao.
Other community events include a job fair, health fair, and free consultation
sessions with attorneys and accountants.
Financial
Support The
DCCC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1985
and is not affiliated with any political or religious organizations.
The
volunteer board members and many community volunteers have donated their time
and services to establish the success of the Center.
Its operation and maintenance requires substantial funding from
individual and business donors. Any
financial support is appreciated and may be sent to the DCCC.
